Record Labels Play a huge part in the music industry in marketing Artists to their chosen audience. Record Labels provide studio time, organise tours, shows, meet ups, merchandise and basically everything that the artist does. Like in the film industry there are big labels and there are independent labels, and now Artists often try to become big off their own back with no Label help, although that is very hard. 

In the music industry the main labels are labeled as 'The Big Four.' 'The Big Four' Consist of 'Universal Music Group', 'Sony Music Entertainment', 'Warner Music Group' and  'EMI Group.' These labels control 88% of the market. The remaining are independent labels. In addition to this these 'Big Four' have subsidiaries. So for example Sony Music Entertainment's subsidiaries are;

Mood Board

Mood Board

In todays lesson we worked on doing our mood board for our music video. The idea of doing a mood board is to display which type of mood were gong for which relates to our genre. So our genre is rock so the black background and pictures of boots and leather jackets which is associated with rock. In additon to this we wrote different words on the mood board which represents the genre Rock. So for example we wrote things like 'BANG', 'EDGY' and 'SMASH.'

The song we have chosen to do for our music video is called 'Back To Me' by Of Mice and Men. We have chosen this song because we believe it is a very good song to work with and we have many ideas for it which makes it easier to do.

   The Genre that we have gone for is 'Rock.' This is because we feel that with doing a music video that has the genre rock there is loads of things and ideas you can put into the video when actually filming and editing. So this was best for us because we felt that with more choices or ideas we can have a better outcome when the doing the video.





Some of the ideas we thought of was when filming or editing a rock video, the visuals don't have to be particularly clear, we can make it look scatty and messy by shaking the camera when filming or adding in scratch marks and stuff like that when editing.
